Vinova are working with a leading energy business delivering a major renewable energy and battery storage project in South Australia. This is a key site-based HSE leadership role where you will influence both operational teams and senior leadership, helping shape the safe delivery of a landmark infrastructure project.
About the role
This position will lead Health, Safety & Environment outcomes across a major construction and renewable energy project, acting as the key interface between corporate leadership and site operations. You will play a hands-on role translating HSE frameworks into practical site processes that support both compliance and project delivery.
The business is looking for someone who is highly credible on construction sites and understands what good looks like in real operational environments. You will be confident engaging senior stakeholders while still being able to communicate effectively with site crews, subcontractors and delivery teams.
Working closely with project leadership, contractors and site teams, you will drive a strong safety culture, provide clear direction and ensure standards are consistently applied across the project lifecycle. You will also lead and support an on-site HSE Coordinator, providing leadership and guidance across day-to-day site activities.
Duties
- Act as the lead HSE advisor across the project site
- Translate corporate HSE standards into practical site procedures and guidance documents
- Lead audits, inspections, risk reviews and incident investigations
- Drive corrective actions through to completion across site activities
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors, leadership and site teams
- Provide clear reporting and communication between site operations and senior management
- Lead and mentor the site-based HSE Coordinator
- Deliver safety coaching, toolbox talks and HSE guidance on site
Skill/experience
- Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
- Strong construction, infrastructure, plant or operational site experience
- Ability to operationalise HSE policies into practical site-ready tools and processes
- Experience managing stakeholders across both site and leadership environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence behaviours and standards
- Experience leading audits, investigations and risk management activities
- Previous leadership or team management capability within site-based environments
- Renewable energy or BESS exposure beneficial but not essential
