Service Technician

Service Technician

What will this job do to improve your life?

This is an opportunity to move into the rapidly growing data centre sector and build specialist experience in one of the most critical infrastructure environments in Australia.

You’ll work with complex electrical, mechanical and critical systems where reliability is everything, giving you exposure that can significantly strengthen your long-term technical career. Rather than spending every day on the tools, you’ll develop broader experience across critical facilities operations, BMS/EMS, fault response, contractor coordination and infrastructure performance.

For someone from an electrical, mechanical, HVAC, facilities or critical infrastructure background, this could be a strong pathway into a sector experiencing significant long-term investment and growth.

About the role

Vinova are working with a leading critical infrastructure business seeking Service Technicians to join its data centre operations team in Melbourne.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you’ll help manage the day-to-day operation of critical facilities and ensure essential infrastructure remains safe, secure and continuously available.

The role combines technical troubleshooting with system monitoring, maintenance coordination and contractor management across electrical, mechanical, fire and other critical infrastructure. You’ll work within a 24/7 rotational shift roster and play a key role in responding to alarms, faults and operational issues.

Duties

  • Monitor critical infrastructure through BMS/EMS platforms and respond to alarms, faults and abnormal conditions
  • Coordinate preventative and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, fire, UPS, generators and cooling systems
  • Troubleshoot critical service issues, support root cause analysis and escalate risks that could affect facility availability
  • Manage contractors, maintenance records and site activities in line with strict safety and operational procedures

Skills & experience

  • Trade qualification or proven experience within data centres, critical facilities or another mission-critical environment
  • Experience with electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, facilities or similar technical infrastructure
  • Exposure to BMS, EMS, SCADA or other electronic monitoring and control systems
  • Ability to coordinate contractors and work confidently within strict operational and safety procedures
  • Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain an NV1 Security Clearance

Prior data centre experience, HV switching certification and exposure to UPS, generators, CRAC units and fire systems would be highly regarded.

Benefits

  • Build a career within one of Australia’s fastest-growing infrastructure sectors
  • Gain exposure to highly technical, mission-critical facilities and systems
  • Develop beyond a traditional hands-on trade role into broader critical facilities operations
  • Work within an established technical team with opportunities to expand your knowledge across multiple disciplines
  • Long-term career development within a growing national infrastructure platform

Company & culture

Vinova are working with a leading Australian critical infrastructure business with a growing portfolio of highly secure, mission-critical facilities.

The operations team sits at the heart of the business, with a strong focus on safety, reliability and uninterrupted service. You’ll join a technically capable environment where people work closely across disciplines, share knowledge and take genuine ownership of the facilities they operate.
