This is an opportunity to become the technical authority for high-voltage substation design within one of Australia’s fastest-growing critical infrastructure businesses.
Rather than designing isolated assets, you’ll play a key role in delivering the electrical infrastructure that powers some of the country’s most critical digital infrastructure. You’ll gain exposure across the full project lifecycle, work alongside experienced engineering and delivery teams, and develop specialist expertise that will be highly valued across the data centre, utilities and energy infrastructure sectors.
About the role
Vinova are partnering with a leading critical infrastructure business that is continuing to invest heavily in new developments across Australia.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead the end-to-end electrical design of substations ranging from 132kV through to 500kV, supporting major greenfield and brownfield projects.
You will be responsible for both primary and secondary substation design while working closely with construction, commissioning, operations and project management teams. You’ll also coordinate external consultants, utilities, contractors and equipment vendors to ensure designs are safe, compliant and delivered to the highest technical standards.
Duties
- Deliver detailed primary and secondary electrical designs for 132kV to 500kV substations across concept, detailed design, construction and commissioning
- Produce and review single line diagrams, protection schematics, substation layouts, cable schedules and equipment specifications
- Manage design interfaces with utilities, consultants, contractors and equipment vendors
- Provide technical support through procurement, FAT, installation, commissioning and handover to operations
Skills & Experience
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
- Proven experience designing substations from 132kV through to 500kV
- Strong experience across both primary and secondary substation design, including protection, control and earthing systems
- Experience delivering projects from concept design through to commissioning
